Start with the equipment operating weight, including fluid and accessory loads. The isolator selection needs to support the true operating load at every mounting point.
Then consider excitation frequency, target isolation efficiency, installation geometry and environmental conditions. Spring isolators are often used for lower-frequency equipment; rubber mounts can be effective for smaller or higher-frequency equipment.
